Gospel Choir

Sunday worship will take on a new dimension as the renowned St Patrick’s Gospel Choir joins an historic Anglican church for monthly Sunday Vespers service in the heart of the City of London. The initiative, supported by St Stephen Walbrook, St Patrick’s Gospel, Premier Christian Radio, and the London Internet Church, is an attempt to accompany traditional Vespers (Evening Service) with the sounds of gospel resonating in the acoustical splendour of the Wren masterpiece church located just next to the Mansion House at Bank. “The building, prayer, incense and the music combine to make a glorious offering of praise to the Lord and we are very excited about the opportunities this co-operative ministry can bring us all,” said Archdeacon Peter Delaney, parish priest at St Stephen.
At the service on 29 August, to which all are welcome, the Revd Peter Kerridge of Premier Christian Radio will preach the homily and St Stephen’s clergy will lead the service, assisted by readers and servers.   The service is designed to be both celebratory and meditative, aided by the unique architecture of the church and the presence of the altar designed by Sculptor Henry Moore. The 45 minute service begins at 6.30 p.m. with refreshments following.  The venture has worship, fellowship, mission and evangelism at its centre, a fresh expression of worship and praise in the true spirit of ecumenism.
At the initial service last month people from Roman Catholic, Methodist, Baptist and Anglican traditions attended and a goodly number entered after hearing the sounds emanating from the impressive edifice.
