Worship
We are expanding the video offerings of the London Internet Church with special attention to those times of the year where visuals, symbols and tradition speak to us in special ways, and in Advent and Lent, the run-up to Christmas and Easter.
Working with Premier Christian Radio and Media in London, granted a national broadcast licence in 2009, the programmes help bring to life the timeless message of the gospel.
PRAYERS FOR MOTHERING SUNDAY
God of compassion, whose Son Jesus Christ, the child of Mary, shared the life of a home in Nazareth, and on the cross drew the whole human family to himself: strengthen us in our daily living that in joy and in sorrow we may know the power of your presence to bind together and to heal; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen
Common Worship Collect for Mothering Sunday
Lord Jesus, you know well the blessing an earthly home can bring: receive our thanks for all the love we have received in our homes, especially from those who have nurtured us from our earliest years. Hear our prayers for mothers everywhere, that they may never lose heart nor ever be taken for granted, but receive from their children the honour and love you showed to your mother, Mary, even as you were suffering on the Cross.
Bless and keep them all, for your love's sake. Amen (Anglican Church of Ireland)
Remember, O Lord, all those in need: people with no good food or proper clothes, no home of their own, or no work to do; those who have neither family nor friends and no knowledge of your love. Supply their needs. Bless those who try to help them and bring us all to trust in you. We ask this is Jesus' name. Amen.
God our Father, we ask you to bless all who live alone, those who have lost their partner in marriage, those who have never married, those whose families are grown up and away from home and those who have outlived other members of their families and many of their friends: Be with them to assure them of your love and of their value to you every moment of their lives, and enable them to rejoice in the fellowship of your Church on earth and in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Creator God, from whom every person and creature on earth gets life and breath, we pray for those who also create beauty, bring forth life and transform our understanding. Amen

Suggestion: A LITURGY FOR AWARENESS
The Awareness Liturgy has been created for use when groups are thinking and praying about the inter-faith realityin which we live and gives attention to the reality of the influence of the three Abrahamic faiths and how they are seen in the world today. The service is an act of Christian worship developed by Canon Jim Rosenthal for the Awareness Foundation.

A Hymn
God of grace and God of glory,
On Thy people pour Thy power.
Crown Thine ancient church’s story,
Bring her bud to glorious flower.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the facing of this hour,
For the facing of this hour.
Lo! the hosts of evil ’round us,
Scorn Thy Christ, assail His ways.
From the fears that long have bound us,
Free our hearts to faith and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the living of these days,
For the living of these days.
Cure Thy children’s warring madness,
Bend our pride to Thy control.
Shame our wanton selfish gladness,
Rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
Lest we miss Thy kingdom’s goal,
Lest we miss Thy kingdom’s goal.
Save us from weak resignation,
To the evils we deplore.
Let the search for Thy salvation,
Be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
Serving Thee Whom we adore,
Serving Thee Whom we adore
Psalm 27 selected verses:::
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? | |
7 | Hear, O LORD, when I cry aloud, be gracious to me and answer me! |
8 | Thou hast said, "Seek ye my face." My heart says to thee, "Thy face, LORD, do I seek." |
9 | Hide not thy face from me. Turn not thy servant away in anger, thou who hast been my help. Cast me not off, forsake me not, O God of my salvation! |
13 | I believe that I shall see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! |
14 | Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; yea, wait for the LORD! |
From St. Theresa of Avila |
Christ has no body now, but yours. No hands, no feet on earth, but yours. Yours are the eyes through which Christ looks with compassion into the world. Yours are the feet with which Christ walks to do good. Yours are the hands with which Christ blesses the world." |
Leader: God be with you
Response: And also with you
LET US PRAY
Gracious Father, hear our prayer. Enliven us with the Spirit of Christ the Servant, that we may serve and honour You by serving and honouring one another; inspire us with the wonder of a child, that we may seek with gratitude the simple and humble ways of your justice and peace. We ask these things in the name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Reading
I John 4:19-21
We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother or sister, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his sister or brother.
V: Hear what the spirit is saying to the church
R: Thanks be to God
Prayers of the Community
Free us from all fear and worry
that, trusting in your goodness,
we may always praise your mighty deeds
and give you thanks for the bounty of your gifts.
We make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Generous God,
you brought us into the abundance of our inheritance.
Grant us the faith to be people
blossoming with honor and truth,
so that we may produce bountifully
the first-fruits of justice and compassion,
which are pleasing in your sight. Amen.
The candles are lit:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
Time of open prayer
Reflection, Meditation or Homily
From the Gospel of Luke: Hymn of Faith: Mary’s Magnificat
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord:
Unnumbered blessings, give my spirit voice;
Tender to me the promise of His word;
In God my saviour shall my heart rejoice.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his name:
Make known his might, the deeds his arm has done;
His mercy sure, from age to age the same;
His holy name, the Lord, the mighty one.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his might:
Powers and dominions lay their glory by;
Proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to flight,
The Hungry fed, the humble lifted high.
Tell out, my soul, the glories of his word:
Firm is his promise, and his mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
To children's children and for evermore.

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; to be understood, as to understand;
Prayer of Thomas Merton – For Personal Confidence
Dear God, I have no idea where I am going. I do not see the road ahead of me. I cannot know for certain where it will end.
Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think that I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.
But I believe this: I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You. I hope I have that desire in everything I do. I hope I never persist in anything apart from that desire. And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road, though I may know nothing about it at the time.
Therefore I will trust You always, for though I may be lost, and in the shadow of death, I will not be afraid, because I know You will never leave me to face my troubles all alone.

Testimonies or Quiet Invitation
Creator of the universe,
you made the world in beauty,
and restore all things in glory
through the victory of Jesus Christ.
We pray that, wherever your image is still disfigured
by poverty, sickness, selfishness, war, and greed,
the new creation in Jesus Christ may appear in justice, love, and peace,
to the glory of your name. Amen.
Aaronic Benediction from the Book of Numbers:
The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.
Go in the peace of Christ
THANKS BE TO GOD
